In 2018, The Ocean released Phanerozoic I: Paleozoic - the first half of a concept album of tentacular yet superbly coherent paleontology. Now, the band is ready to publish the long-awaited conclusions of the Phanerozoic journey. Widely hailed as their most beautiful work to date, Phanerozoic I was filled with moments of melodic brilliance, alongside the expected deformation of post-metal conventions. The first part of the "Phanerozoic" is a regret-free album, which is "quite rare," says guitarist Robin Staps. "It may even be the first time I can say that."
