The Berlin post-rock band The Ocean strikes hard with their new album "Holocene"!After a six-month world tour, the Berlin-based atmospheric and progressive (post-)rock/metal band The Ocean returns with the follow-up to their critically acclaimed double album "Phanerozoic" (2020). With "Holocene", The Ocean closes their series of albums inspired by paleontology, and shifts into high gear by moving toward the electronic world while redefining heaviness. Founded at the dawn of the millennium, the group of musicians led by guitarist Robin Staps shows no signs of slowing down, even with over 20 years under their belt. United by a common vision of limitless sonic exploration and relentless heaviness, they have earned a formidable reputation within the (post-)rock and metal scenes. The result is an eclectic album that presents a broader palette of sounds than ever before in The Ocean's history; an album that salutes the powerful riff, the bit-crushed vocal extravagance à la Reznor, and dark synth-based tracks, as much as it bows to creepy/indie Radiohead and early 2000s trip hop (Portishead, Massive Attack).
