The Adventures Of Kindaichi Kosuke

Description

IN 1977, COMPOSER KENTARO HANEDA ASSEMBLED THE BEST JAPANESE MUSICIANS & DELIVERED A PURE DISCO FUNK MARVEL! The writer Seishi Yokomizo is an institution in Japan. He could be compared to Agatha Christie with his series of novels based on the adventures of detective Kosuke Kindaichi. The fictional character was born in 1946 and solved cases until the late 70s before the writer's death in 1981. Kindaichi is a peculiar character, a clumsy but scrupulous detective, who became legendary in Japan over the decades. Yokomizo's novels have been a prime source for film and TV series scripts, so when, in 1977, the Japanese label King Records decided to record a concept album based on Kindaichi's novels, it made perfect sense. The concept album was produced by pianist Kentaro Haneda, a highly renowned television, film, and video game composer in Japan. For The Adventures of Kindaichi Kosuke album, Haneda gathered a supergroup made up of Tokyo's finest funk and city pop musicians. The list is long and includes jazz pianist Hideo Ichikawa, drummer Jun Moriya, percussionist Tadaomi Anai, trumpeter Koji Hadori, saxophonist Takeru Muraoka, koto player Kimiko Yamauchi, and finally, horn player Koji Yamaguchi. Together, they laid the foundation for relentless disco funk on the ten instrumental tracks filled with breakbeats, making the album one of the most sought-after Japanese LPs on the international scene. This reissue is the album's first official release outside of Japan. Arranged by one of the masters of Japanese film scores and accompanied by a mysterious group of the best Japanese funk musicians of the 70s, the album is a pure disco funk marvel!
