The Kinks are one of the greatest British bands and one of the most influential rock groups of all time, without which many of the great rock bands that followed would not have existed. Their legendary leader, Sir Ray Davies, has received numerous awards and is one of the greatest British songwriters of all time.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Kinks and compiled by the Kinks, this is a new high-profile worldwide release combining the prestigious Pye and RCA catalogs. This is the first new "best of" from the Kinks in many years, especially on vinyl.
"The Journey" is a collection of tracks chosen by the Kinks themselves, Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and Mick Avory, that reflect the trials and tribulations of their journey as a band since 1963.
It includes B-sides, key album tracks, singles, band favorites, and of course hits, including "Waterloo Sunset," "You Really Got Me," "Celluloid Heroes," "Supersonic Rocket Ship," "Dead End Street," "Death Of A Clown," and "All Day And All Of The Night." All recordings have been remastered from the original sources.
The tracks are taken from all the classic original albums of the Kinks, including "Kinda Kinks," "Face To Face," "Something Else," and the recently remastered 50th anniversary editions of "Village Green Preservation Society," "Lola, Muswell Hillbillies," and "Everybody's In Show-Biz."
The booklets include photos of the band and personal track-by-track notes from Ray Davies, Dave Davies, and Mick Avory.
