Volume 3 of the Jazz Sessions marks the return of James Taylor, a major figure in acid jazz, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his solo career. A former member of the Prisoners, he launched the James Taylor Quartet in 1986 and has collaborated with the Acid Jazz label since its inception. This anniversary is celebrated with a first trio album, The Truth, recorded with Theo Carasco (drums) and Orlando Flemming (double bass), in a style inspired by 70s jazz (Les McCann, Hampton Hawes, Lonnie Liston Smith). The project features analog keyboards (Fender Rhodes, Hammond organ, Solina), enriched by the tablas of Aref Durvesh and the voice of Liz Jai on three tracks. The album blends covers (Vince Guaraldi, Thus Sprach Zarathustra) and original compositions, confirming James Taylor's return to the label that launched his career.
