Inspired by the song "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies, CBS launched the Harlem Globetrotters animated series (1971-72) with a soul and funky soundtrack by Don Kirshner. The show, featuring African Americans, is a success. James Ralph Bailey, a former member of the Cadillacs and an icon of Northern Soul, contributed to its catchy and commercially successful music.
