Description

'Mode' is an album born from the creative process of the Cromagnon Band, which consists of taking breaks with the tracks they love, made by the artists they love, and then jamming live in the studio until something new evolves that has taken a long journey away from the source. Picking up the grooves they composed during these sessions, the band reversed the conception of what they created and produced the final tracks as a creative trio. From start to finish, the entire process is paradoxically both constrained and endowed with creative spontaneity through the 100% live jam creative technique. The purely instrumental tracks of 'Mode' represent music for the sake of music, without a specific narrative, but leaving the listener space to make their own interpretations and create their own mental images. The atmosphere is transcendent and transporting with as many ideas as possible in each track. The sound is a dark cinematic and psychedelic funk that highlights the musical pedigrees and heritage of the band members as music lovers; Nordic psych/jazz, classical, boom-bap Hip-Hop breaks, and heavy rock riffs reminiscent of early Black Sabbath. The Cromagnon Band was formed in 2015 and is a trio of artists who compose and produce their own works. Drummer Tom Watt and bassist Lenny Walker both come from music production, while Bert Page is a classically trained musician who plays all the keys as well as the saxophone and clarinet. In addition to being a studio entity, The Cromagnon Band performs as a live trio, adapting and arranging their tracks on stage, with Bert simultaneously playing the Moog and Rhodes.
