Description

Premier album, recorded over a few weekends, “The Clash” aims to reflect a punk movement in full swing in the English capital. Including the band’s first single, White Riot, this record is a more than honorable calling card, and indeed reached No. 12 in the album sales charts in England upon its release. An atmosphere of urgency that brings a powerful breath to music that is as energetic as it is eclectic, which, amid the chaos, develops an uncommon intensity. A cover of Junior Murvin, Police And Thieves, gives a foretaste of the eclecticism that will guide the band throughout their career, and the tracks I'm So Bored With The U.S.A, London Burning, Career Opportunities or Janie Jones, both through their committed lyrics and their irresistible fury, finish proving that this band is here to stay. This album, now recognized as a key piece on the rock chessboard, was also chosen by the English magazine Sounds as “Best rock album of all time”.
