The most electronic album by the duo, We Are The Night allows for musical experimentation. However, Rowlands and Simons seem to have found a path that goes beyond mixing their influences. This synthesis always involves the presence of many other musicians. "The collaborators we seek are not necessarily the most well-known artists," Ed Simons points out. The Klaxons are certainly aware of their popularity when the record is released... But the same cannot be said for Tim Smith (from the band Midlake) or American composer Willy Mason. The various collaborations organized on this album still align closely with the band's music. Each guest knows how to blend into the Chemical Brothers' universe, which always offers an ideal space for expression. This sixth album is less grandiose than its predecessors. It mainly contains small, finely crafted electro pieces. Thus, "Saturate" and "Das Spiegel" evolve peacefully without excess or embellishment. The duo even allows themselves a somewhat silly track with a quirky melody and a deliberately bad-taste chorus featuring Fatlip, "The Fatlip." Despite mixed success, We Are The Night may be their most cohesive album.
