Nicknamed the "Giant of the Keyboards," Carlos Manuel "Charlie" Palmieri (1927-1988) was born in the South Bronx, New York, after his parents emigrated from Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1926. During his career, Palmieri worked with his brother Eddie, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Herbie Mann, Ismael Rivera, Rafael Cortijo, Ismael Quintana, Bobby Capó, Mongo Santamaria, Cal Tjader, and Ray Barretto, among others. Intermusic presents the complete album Easy Does It, recorded in 1959, in which Palmieri is the main soloist in a quartet featuring only his piano with bass and percussion.
