Last year, with new compositions under their belts, The Casanovas, pumped up and ready, knocked on the door of 30Mill Studios, where the famous and iconic Australian producer Mark Opitz (AC/DC, The Angels, Cold Chisel, The Divinyls) was waiting for them to record their fifth album. The Casanovas offered a taste of the upcoming album at the end of 2019 when they released their first track in over four years, with the now-famous scorcher "Hollywood Riot." 'Reptilian Overlord, the album, revels in everything fans have come to know and love about The Casanovas, and it shows the impact of Opitz, who contributed to many of the band's favorite albums like Powerage and Face to Face. As the band's bassist, Damo Campbell, puts it: "Mark is the master of mixing for great guitar sounds. He certainly brought some of his techniques into our sessions... It was also very inspiring to be in the studio to hear some of his stories about the great rock bands he has worked with during his long career." Although caught up in the rock movement of the early 21st century, The Casanovas have always possessed deeper roots and a natural ease in showcasing them. Hailing from the Rock'n'Roll Capital of the Universe - Melbourne - The Casanovas remain a fusion of two great local traditions - punk rock'n'roll and Oz Rock - and when they emerged at the turn of the century, these two genres received a serious jolt of youth. "It's like they've captured all my favourite rock acts - Cheap Trick, Stones, Kiss, ZZ Top & AC/DC, and crammed them all into their own jar of Vegemite.
