Connolly writes in the only way she knows how: a poetic stream of consciousness that makes for honest, personal and heartfelt songs, which can evoke childhood summers and first love as easily as cultural dislocation, post-colonial injustices and grief. But it’s her deeply soulful, utterly engaging voice that stops you in your tracks – whether delicate and hushed or powerful and full-throated – coupled with Stuart’s understated brilliance and their exquisite songs, that gives The Breath such emotional depth.
‘Land of My Other’ was written by The Breath and produced by the band and Thomas Bartlett, known for his work with St Vincent, The Gloaming, Sufjan Stevens, Yoko Ono, and Nico Muhly, among others. The album was recorded at Real World Studios and WR Audio. The album was mixed by four-time Grammy winner Patrick Dillett.
