Signed by Rick Rubin to his Def American label, they were described as the “greatest rock’n’roll band in the world” by Melody Maker magazine. Their first album, Shake Your Money Maker, released in 1990 and titled after an Elmore James song, sets the scene with a 100% blues rock sound worthy of the best Stones or Aerosmith productions. It was with The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, released two years later and entering the US charts directly at No. 1, that the band experienced its moment of glory. Amorica and Three Snakes and One Charm, the next two albums, would meet with less success and, from then on, tensions would arise between the two brothers.
