Released in 1984, Un autre monde is the fifth and final studio album by Téléphone, featuring the timeless hit of the same name. Recorded near London under the guidance of Glyn Johns (the legendary producer of The Who and The Rolling Stones, among others), the album refines the quartet's sound by adding a synthetic touch very much rooted in its time, while still maintaining its rock energy. Darker and more melancholic than their earlier works, this album oscillates between generational anthems (Un autre monde, New York avec toi) and more introspective tracks (Electric Cité, 66 heures). A true public success, crowned by a Victoire de la musique in 1985, it remains today a major artistic testament of 80s French rock.
