OUTLANDERS was created by Finnish soprano Tarja Turunen, accompanied by one of EDM’s pioneers, Torsten Stenzel, as well as some of today’s most influential guitarists, whom they convinced to appear as guest artists on the album. With OUTLANDERS, Tarja wanted to create something new and exciting: the album contains relaxed yet surprising electronic rhythms, accompanied by Tarja’s touching and well-controlled voice as well as unique guitar performances by guitar masters such as Al Di Meola, Joe Satriani, Jenifer Batten, Steve Rothery, Mike Oldfield and many others. Recorded and mixed over the past 10 years, the sound of OUTLANDERS is mystical, soft and powerful, captivating and dreamy, both modern and vintage. Each song features a special guest guitarist: Al Di Meola, Trevor Rabin, Joe Satriani, Jennifer Batten, Steve Rothery, Mike Oldfield, Walter Giardino, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, Vernon Reid and Marty Friedman, among others. 'Outlanders' has succeeded in creating something exciting and new: the music combines relaxed yet at the same time exciting electronic rhythms with Tarja’s emotional and classical voice and her unique guitar playing. These three elements represent the constants, with equal importance, in all the songs. The sound is mysterious, soft and yet powerful, catchy and dreamy, modern and classic at the same time. The music contains opposites that are magically attracted to each other. The three aesthetic pillars combine to form a new independent sound.
