This year, gothic diva Tarja is ushering in the holiday season with the release of her brand new Christmas album, “From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a dark Christmas)”: 11 reimagined Christmas classics that skillfully blend Tarja's classical voice with gothic influences. Utilizing a large symphonic orchestra, the most popular of Finnish artists adds a sinister touch to classics like “O Tannenbaum,” “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” and “Feliz Navidad,” evoking the soundtrack of a dark and gloomy film. In addition to the covers, “From Spirits and Ghosts” features an entirely new song, “Together.” This track addresses themes such as ghosts and mysticism, with Tarja's distinctive style. The album is produced by Tarja and Emmy Award-winning film composer Jim Dooley, along with British producer Tim Palmer, known for his work with Pearl Jam, U2, David Bowie, and The Cure. Tarja states about the album: “Producing a dark Christmas cover album in the middle of summer is very interesting, especially when you do it by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. It’s very different from the snowy Christmases I’m used to in my native Finland. I wanted to explore the other side of Christmas. The Christmas of lonely people, and those we miss. Those who do not find happiness and joy in looking at the bright decorations and typical carols.”
