Formed in 2013, the group Tank And The Bangas has made a mark since their appearance and victory at the Tiny Desk contest organized by NPR in 2017. This group combines R&B with poetry and the bouncy writing of hip-hop, with a flair and chemistry typical of New Orleans. Their evolution goes beyond music: the singer, leader, and songwriter Tarriona 'Tank' Ball is also developing her talents as a performer and composer. 'At open mic days, she was already showing great inspiration. I don't know if we can talk about an overflow of freedom, but it was totally natural. She was inspired,' says Norman Spence (synth and bass). More recently, Ball has become calmer on stage: 'I was running around so much that I didn't have time to sing,' she says, as she explores new ways to express herself through composition. Tank and The Bangas consists of Ball, Spence, Merell Burkett (keyboards), Joshua Johnson (drums), and Albert Allenback (saxophone, flute).
