Europe is the second live album by the fiery brunette from Brazil, following the album Live in Montmartre recorded in 1978 in a trio with Marc Bertaux and André Ceccarelli at the famous club in the Danish capital. It reflects her very intense activity in the mid-90s. On Europe, we hear her strong taste for rock sounds, combined with an ever-unchanged freedom of expression, her unique way of scatting and whistling in unison with her piano, the rhythmic flashes of her left hand, her simple and beautiful melodies, her radiant energy worthy of the greatest entertainers, and her unique vocal timbre. Everything that defines Tania Maria's mastery on stage is concentrated in this album, which has become a reference in her work. Furthermore, she finds dream partners in Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson, and Mitch Stein. Their "chase" in the opening track of the album Funky tambourine, one of Tania Maria's iconic compositions, ranks among the most accomplished musical moments of those fusion years.
