Here is the second part of the new SOAD, a double album whose first part was released in April. Hypnotize, the sequel to Mesmerize, was also produced by Rick Rubin (and mixed by Andy Wallace) in partnership with guitarist Daron Malakian. It is because they gave their all in particularly intense studio sessions that the Californian quartet decided to release all of their new songs in two parts. Adopting a rather eccentric metal style based on twisted riffs and tempo changes, SOAD brings together on this second part a dozen tracks that complete the previous album: for example, Soldier Side, which ends Hypnotize, refers to Soldier Side Intro which began Mesmerize. Kill Rock’n’roll, Stealing Society, She’s Like Heroin, or Lonely Day will satisfy fans, who are also accustomed to the pictorial work of Malakian's father, once again in charge of the cover.
Note that the DualDisc edition offers a making of the two albums made by Gariné Torossian.
