For this first album, singer Syna Awel takes us into her world, filled with tales and encounters drawn from the depths of Kabylie, her homeland. Stories that she puts into words and music. Karim Ziad, drummer and percussionist, arranged this project for a group that includes David Aubaile on piano and flutes, and Pierre Bonnet on bass, alongside Syna and himself. Sung mainly in Berber but also in French, these ten songs take us on a journey through Eastern atmospheres, with bendirs, Krakeb, and derboukas playing a significant role. But the piano also infuses jazz and even pop harmonies. By listening closely, one can also hear some Occitan influences. Music knows no borders. In this beautiful soundscape, shaped by inspired musicians, Syna Awel's voice can showcase its ease and power in all its nuances.
