Triple entente

Description

Triple Entente is the continuation of a story... Diego Imbert and Michel Perez, wished in a doubly intended way, to have fun with a triple challenge and share with their friend Sylvain Beuf new compositions to broaden an already very colorful palette. The first challenge lay in the combination of the collective’s instruments, namely the saxophone, the guitar and the double bass, which requires an impeccable sense of tempo. The second bet lay in the choice of a practice, very used in bebop, called demarcation, which consists in borrowing the harmonic grid and the structure of a standard to compose a completely new melody. Thus So What by Miles Davis became Impressions under the breath of John Coltrane and How High The Moon by Morgan Lewis was transformed into an anthology Ornithology by Charlie Parker. Here, with Triple Entente, On a Green Dolphin Street by Bronislau Kaper is reinvented into a very monkian Dauphin Bleu thanks to Michel Perez, All the things You are by Jérôme Kern is metamorphosed via Sylvain Beuf into a promising Last Moment and You Stepped Out of a Dream by Nacio Herb Brown is renewed into Dream Team with Diego Imbert. The third challenge, and not the least, was ultimately to bring together this dream crew capable of inviting the listener to the undisguised pleasure of a cruise toward the luxuriant shores of improvisation. Accomplished technicians and of fertile inspiration, the three comrades know how to draw from their respective instruments sounds of great expressiveness that intertwine, support each other, complement each other, sometimes part ways within the same measure to meet again further on. The music is indeed there, languid or restrained, exalted or invigorating, it gives itself, generous, for a remarkable journey that inexorably stands apart from the subtly borrowed paths.
