For sixty years, these recordings of Sviatoslav Richter made by Deutsche Grammophon at the festivals of Tours and Lucerne in 1965, lay dormant in the archives of the yellow label. Carefully restored by the Emil Berliner studios, they are released for the first time. Richter believed he could play more freely in the concert hall rather than in the studio. These phenomenal interpretations of Beethoven's Sonatas No. 18, 27, 28, and 31 reveal a pianist at the height of his art.
