Carrie and Lowell

Description

Prolific folk musician, songwriter Sufjan Stevens unveils his new album "Carrie & Lowell": After numerous electro-pop, baroque, and even hip-hop experiments ("Sysiphus," a record made in collaboration with Son Lux and Serengeti), and even Christmas songs ("Silver An Gold," a 2012 collection of recordings on the Christmas theme), the hyperactive Detroit artist Sufjan Stevens announces his big return to the roots folk that made him successful as early as 2000 with "A Sun Came." It has taken five years, since "The Age of Adz," for this new studio album "Carrie & Lowell" to be released, scheduled for March 31 on Asthmatic Kitty Records. The first video teaser plunges us into this folk as minimalist as it is luminous, of which Sufjan Stevens is one of the guardians. Casey Foubert, Laura Veirs, Nedelle Torrisi, Sean Carey, Ben Lester and Thomas Bartlett took part in this album named after the first names of the songwriter's mother and stepfather.
