"Where Trees Go To Die" is the latest offering from Stone Anthem, a hallucinatory journey through ambient textures, dense organic drones, and otherworldly frequencies. It combines field recordings, modular synthesis, and muffled vocals. Archie explains, "The album was created with the aim of maximizing immersion and creating a blissful sound field, a slow-evolving soundscape where perception distorts and time dissolves. Both meditative and disorienting, 'Where Trees Go To Die' explores the fertile boundaries between consciousness and chaos, drawing inspiration from ambient pioneers, both ancient and contemporary, post-industrial decay, and the raw emotional depth of psychedelic states. The initial draft of the album was created in a peaceful hamlet in the Spanish mountains in 2023, with very little equipment. The forest and mountain landscapes thus strongly influenced the album's development. This is also where all of the album's field recordings come from." Soon after composing the foundations of the record, Archie refined the tracks during live performances, which encouraged various new creative avenues and the use of new instruments that began to shape the path through the dense light and shadow of the music as the album unfolded.
