An extraordinary and legendary drummer, Vietnam conscientious objector, ex-Black Panther, Reid played with everyone from James Brown to Sun Ra, Fela Kuti and Miles Davis. A friend of John Coltrane, he worked at Motown and, in the latter part of his career, worked extensively with Kieran Hebden, pursuing his path of radical and revolutionary music until his untimely death in 2010.
