Mémoires vivantes

Description

The choir for everyone from Ensemble Sequenza 9.3! As part of the Cultural Olympiad, Ensemble Sequenza 9.3 carried out, over three years, a project of collecting oral-tradition songs within Seine-Saint-Denis, a territory rich in 175 nationalities. Entrusted to composers of today, these songs gave rise to a new polyphonic repertoire. The album Mémoires vivantes brings together fifteen of these pieces: Corsican and Andalusian lullabies, a funeral lament, a Greek sailors’ song, an Anatolian nursery rhyme, an Albanian song from the Ottoman era, an Indian melody, etc.... Catherine Simonpietri conducts and breathes this new resonance into the voices of the twelve singers of Sequenza 9.3.
