Steve Gunn grew up in Philadelphia, where he was lulled by the soul music his parents loved before asserting his own tastes through hardcore. In high school, he discovered jazz, then joined several punk bands before finding his style. With a career spanning nearly two decades, the former stage sideman for War On Drugs and Kurt Vile among his Violators, a virtuoso guitarist enamored with contemplative rock featuring delicate arpeggios and psychedelic melodies, he has built a proud reputation within the US alternative scene with excellent EPs — notably Steve Gunn/Kurt Vile or Cantos De Lisboa with Mike Cooper. Three years after the brilliant Eyes On The Lines, Steve Gunn is back with The Unseen in Between, a soaring and delicate album.
