Description

The latest original cast recording from the legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, Here We Are, is inspired by the surrealist films of Luis Buñuel, The Exterminating Angel (1962) and The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972). With a book by Tony Award nominee David Ives and direction by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, along with a star-studded Broadway cast, Here We Are follows six aristocratic friends in search of a brunch. Here We Are is the last musical ever written by the legendary composer/lyricist and EGOT winner, Stephen Sondheim. The musical is based on two films by the Spanish and Mexican surrealist filmmaker Luis Buñuel: The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and The Exterminating Angel. The show also features a book by Tony Award nominee David Ives and was directed by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello. Here We Are had its world premiere off-Broadway at the Griffin Theatre at The Shed in New York, from October 22, 2023, to January 24, 2024. Here We Are (original cast recording) features a star-studded cast from Broadway, film, and television, including Tracie Bennett, Bobby Cannavale, Micaela Diamond, Amber Gray, Rachel Bay Jones, Denis O'Hare, Steven Pasquale, David Hyde Pierce, and Jeremy Shamos.
