American polyphony Œuvres vocales

Description

A new—and far too rare—recording by the Polyphony choir under the direction of Stephen Layton presents some monuments of the choral repertoire composed by four American geniuses: Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland and Randall Thompson. In addition to Thompson’s elegant favorites, Alleluia and Fare Well, the program includes Bernstein’s Missa brevis, four early motets by Copland and, of course, Barber’s inimitable Agnus Dei.
