Stéphane Sassi is a versatile musician: composer, arranger, jazz pianist, director, and producer. His new album, Serge, is a tribute to his father who passed away in September 2021. For this album, where he plays the piano, he has surrounded himself with accomplices who are also top-notch musicians: Laurent Agnès on trumpet, Pascal Faidy on tenor sax, Yannick Harnois on accordion, Nolwenn Leizour on double bass, Christophe Beausset on drums, and Jean-Marc Pierna on percussion. His repertoire consists of original compositions. It is an album centered around jazz that offers us very lively music with varied arrangements in trio, quartet, or quintet, colored by atmospheres ranging from musette jazz to swing and samba. Stéphane Sassi invites us on a journey to the roots of his influences and heritage, a musical culmination of nearly 18 months.
