Drawing from a cult repertoire, performed by musicians who have forged unbreakable bonds around the Belmondo brothers for decades, this collective project is an immersion into a crucial moment in music history: when jazz became electrified by rock rhythms and rock freed itself from the confines of song through improvisation. Developed with a two-keyboard mirror setup, like the two guitars at the heart of The Grateful Dead machine, this adventure vibrates to the distorted timbres of Fender Rhodes and other Farfisa organs that defined the sound of the sixties, expertly guided by Laurent Fickelson and Eric Legnini. Stripping away the song forms, preserving their complexity beneath their apparent simplicity, Lionel Belmondo conceived the repertoire as songs that open up to improvisation and welcome solos that both tear and illuminate their framework.
