A SUMMIT MEETING OF THREE MAJOR MUSICIANS ON THE CURRENT JAZZ SCENE The award-winning album deserved a vinyl… Stéphan Oliva made a strong impression with his first trio alongside Claude Tchamitchian and Jean-Pierre Jullian, and then with his memorable trio featuring legendary American drummer Paul Motian and bassist Bruno Chevillon. The desire to return to his preferred format materialized with the formation of this collective trio in May 2016 during a concert-creation at the Europa Jazz Festival in Le Mans. Accompanied by Sébastien Boisseau, one of the most active bassists on the European jazz scene, and New York drummer Tom Rainey, Stéphan Oliva continues his trio work. Oliva, Boisseau, and Rainey are familiar with the triangular exchanges that have marked their careers. They have played with various masters of the piano-bass-drums trio, such as Paul Motian, Fred Hersch, Kenny Werner, Joachim Kuhn, and more. They also share collaborations with guitarist Marc Ducret. It's no surprise, then, that these three highly seasoned musicians chose the ultimate jazz ensemble format to combine their experiences and their conceptions of sound, dreams, power, or drama.
