This album inaugurates the Brazilian inspiration of saxophonist Stan Getz. It is perhaps less known than the result of his collaboration with João Gilberto two years later, but it is historic. Considered the ambassador of bossa in the USA, Getz was indeed a trailblazer: the excellent guitarist Charlie Byrd, who returned from a tour in South America, introduced him to this new music. Jazz Samba emanates from this shared discovery. The two musicians blend their knowledge with another musical complexity, with different harmonies and tempos. They cover "Desafinado" and "Samba Triste," and Charlie Byrd composes his own samba. Their version of "Desafinado" is a hit in the United States, and the entire album becomes a bestseller. Jazz gained a new family, and Brazilian music the key to conquer the American market, and thus the world.
