« THROAT SLAVE » marks a significant evolution for SQUID PISSER. While maintaining the fervor and sonic intensity that characterize the band, the album reveals a richer emotional palette. The groove, atmosphere, and dynamic tension play a more important role than ever, providing a conducive space for the most immersive and accomplished work of the band to date. « Throat Slave » is also the first album by SQUID PISSER to highlight the creative contribution of guitarists Michael Armendariz and Raz Azraai, whose compositions and performances enrich the band's sonic vocabulary while preserving its unique and unstable identity. Side A unfolds through five tracks exploring paranoia, confrontation, introspection, and liberation. Behind the recurring imagery of vermin, tumors, leeches, and bodily decomposition lies a more universal struggle: reclaiming one's identity, torn from manipulation, illusions, and narratives imposed by others. THROAT SLAVE is above all an album about emergence, about recognizing disturbing truths and the clarity that follows. While Side A documents the organism, Side B documents its mutation. Remix artists, including queer icon PLACK BLAGUE, minimalist noise-pop duo HYPER GAL, DRUMCORPS, FARTBARF, Ecology: HomeStones, and DJ Embryonic Petit Sac, deconstruct and reconstruct the original material into electronic hallucinations, industrial rituals, mutant dance music, and fevered psychedelic dreams. Rather than serving as a bonus, the remixes function as a second act, transforming familiar themes into entirely new forms. Accompanied by the luminous and deeply unsettling work of Bora Murmure, THROAT SLAVE occupies a space between nightmare and revelation. Like the luminous figure depicted on its cover, the album emerges from the darkness transformed - beautiful, disturbing, and impossible to fully explain.
