They are now better known for their DJ activities following the massive success of "2 Many DJs," but the Dewaele brothers are primarily the architects of Soulwax, a rock and roll band that has been active for nearly ten years. "Any Minute Now" is undoubtedly their masterpiece. It must be said that these clever and cultured Belgians had the means to turn their dreams into reality: with Flood (Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, U2, Nitzer Ebb, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave) producing and Alan Moulder ("Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine, no less) mixing, the album is a sort of electrorock cathedral brimming with astonishing sounds, whether it's ultra-saturated monophonic keyboards reminiscent of Suicide or spiky guitars. But the talent ultimately belongs to the two brothers, great songwriters who deliver fabulous tracks here; just listen to the transition from "E Talking" to "Any Minute Now" to be convinced. A great album.
