Sons Of Angels

Sons of Angels is a Norwegian and Swedish hard rock band active in the late 80s and early 90s, consisting of Hans Olav Solli on vocals, Staffan Willaim-Olsson on guitar, Torstein on bass, Lars Kilevold on keyboards, and Geir Digernes on drums.
The band was born from a ten-day trip to Los Angeles with a demo (they called it "the gold digger-trip" !!). They had only one name in hand when they arrived in Los Angeles, but the response they received was so immediate and overwhelming that it seems everyone who heard it called everyone they knew. After a week, a rumor was circulating in the record world in Los Angeles: "There are three Norwegians in town with a burning cassette"! They thought that the really interested labels would come to Oslo to see them perform, so they organized a concert in Oslo and MCA, Atlantic, and Warner came. MCA was represented by the president himself, Al Teller, as well as three people from other territories! The representatives of the Norwegian record industry who attended the concert were stunned to see who was there.
Eventually, Sons Of Angels signed with Atlantic and returned to the United States to record their first album with producer Kevin Elson (Journey, Mr Big, Europe...). They released their self-titled debut album in 1990, on May 11. They were not very well known but their first album sold over 150,000 copies. They had some success with the single and the first track of the album - "Cowgirl" Cowgirl is the very first song they wrote and it became a sort of anthem. Among the 10 tracks, there is also the sad Lonely Rose and a groovy song inspired by Lars Kilevold's love for Prince (Trance Dance).
Unfortunately, the contract with Atlantic ends in April 1991. Sons Of Angels wanted to withdraw from the agreement because they were not satisfied with how Atlantic had handled the album...
