Saint Thomas

Description

The whole life and work of Sonny Rollins are marked by a single obsession: knowing who he is and what he is, and translating his self into music. He has undoubtedly achieved this through introspection, self-questioning, and meditation. He has reached a wisdom and serenity from which his playing can now flourish. What might at first seem like hesitation or wandering is in fact only patient work of self-construction, each stage of which is made tangible through sound. That is Sonny Rollins, the breath of the quest for the self.
