Solar Temple was launched in 2016 and started as a psychedelic black metal project, and has since evolved to cover genres such as psychedelic rock, krautrock, drone, ambient, and now electronic music. Composed of the duo O. Iskandr (Dool, Iskandr, Turia, and Galg among others) and M. Koops (Fluisteraars, Nusquama, and Galg among others), the project has always aimed to create original and experimental music pieces. Making their live debut at the 2021 Roadburn Redux edition, where they presented the psychedelic rock piece "The Great Star Above Provides," and performing at Roadburn 2022 a collaborative piece "Embers Beget the Divine" with their compatriots Dead Neandertals, the band's concerts are both rare and highly memorable. Planet Earth once housed a great civilization that has since vanished, leaving only subtle traces for those who could see. The inhabitants of this ancient world were keen observers of the cosmos and capable of manipulating space-time to propel psychic rafts and travel through the solar system collecting raw materials. Eventually, a consciousness developed around the massive black hole at the center of our galaxy, whose circular clockwork movement slowly attracts all matter, becoming a central element of a great societal religious cult. The high priests of primordial earth commanded an expedition to venture into the inner sanctuary of this gaping maw of anti-light. A grand ceremony celebrated the launching of this expeditionary raft. After passing through the multiple gravitational orbits of the earth and planets, the vessel drifted into space only to be ultimately drawn into the hole. The collective consciousness of the travelers deconstructed and reconstituted as gods on a higher plane, whose deep historical memory was transmitted to ancient man in the form of the great religions of this world. Solar Temple's new album, "A Gift That Should Have Been Reserved for the Great Lights," serves as the soundtrack to an imaginary film following the story of these cosmonauts. Beginning with the grand ritual of ascension, accompanied by an incantation from a priest, the launch and subsequent breaking of the earth's gravitational barrier. In the second movement, we experience the passage of the great planets and the push and pull of their gravitational forces. The third movement recounts the experience of a journey into deep space, when, after a while, the sublime terror of the great black hole begins to draw the vessel toward its vast emptiness. After the great torrent of deconstructed dimensions, we enter a plane of cosmic bliss and elevation.
