The Christmas offices interpreted by Sister Agathe. Lauds, midday prayer, vespers, and compline from the sisters of the Apostolic Benedictine Fraternity of Nantes. This CD opens with the Roman martyrology sung, as is increasingly done in our churches, just before the start of the Christmas Eve mass. Following this are the offices for Christmas Day: lauds, midday office, vespers, and compline. The hymns, antiphons, and psalmody are mostly original compositions (based on AELF texts), adapted for parish settings: both beautiful and melodic, yet simple enough to be sung by the congregation. The offices are those of the Apostolic Benedictine Fraternity for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They are performed by Sister Agathe and a small choir. The interpretation and accompaniment aim to be understated and quite close to reality, while being enriched to encourage a pleasant and repeated listening experience at home. A prayerful CD that carries the joy of the Nativity.
