"We have finished our new album and even though we feel like we have created something spectacular, it was not an easy journey! Several times, we almost lost our minds, ready to give up this crazy dream of being in a band. After the recording, we experienced some of the most intense yet beautiful moments of our lives. It was as if all the lyrics of the album were the narrative of our lives beyond the album. They make even more sense now, drawing the perfect map for the road ahead. This album is super intense. Each song is unique and heavy, whether in the riffs or simply loaded with emotion, expressing our own existential feelings as well as those of the band. When we started writing this album, we were not satisfied with the direction it was taking. We decided to throw away the ideas we had up to that point and start all over again. The result: songs with more purpose, more intention, and more spontaneity. It’s the best thing we’ve ever done. Once those raw ideas and the foundation of the songs took shape, the fine-tuning began. We decided to incorporate tons of demo ideas, snippets, and sounds into the final album, knowing that part of their magic could not be reproduced in the studio. The acoustic guitars on snare and the unplugged electric guitars we recorded in kitchens on iPhones when the ideas seemed too cool not to be used in the final version. We looped digitally recorded synths through a bunch of gear and external analog effects, sampled and shifted them. Vocals recorded on loud tracks covered in reverb where you can hear all the spill. Recording drums at double speed and slowing them down. The pitch of entire songs changed to create strange artifacts. Chimes played super washed out with metal spoons, multitudes of layered drum parts making it impossible to play live. There’s even a real saxophone on this record. There’s even a song with over 200 instrument tracks. But all of this with total purpose and intention. Many of these little happy accidents ended up on this record in an original organic form. A big thank you to Lewis Johns for bringing all this madness together and helping us with messy ideas. Your mixes really made this album so much better than we could have ever hoped. Thank you for hanging on to the edge of madness with us! Sorry! All of the above may sound strange. I mean, it’s not a particularly experimental record in any way, but there are so many layers that make everything more interesting. It’s the heaviest we’ve written so far and 100% our best. In our minds, at least. This record is everything we hoped for."
