The Slipknot monster is back and opens a new chapter in its uncompromising history with a new album titled ".5: The Gray Chapter" (the band’s fifth Grammy Award-winning studio album), which will be released on October 20, while the North American "Prepare For Hell" tour will begin immediately after Knotfest (which takes place from October 24 to 26). 5: The Gray Chapter" will be available in various formats including standard, special (2 bonus tracks and different packaging) and a limited edition double colored vinyl. Slipknot unveiled "The Negative One" in early August, marking the band’s big return after not releasing a new album for more than six years. The track immediately went to number one on Billboard's Trending 140 in the U.S., and the band as well as the track became trending topics on Twitter worldwide. The track is still in the metal charts. Meanwhile, the horrific video accompanying the track, directed by M. Shawn Crahan (the band's Clown), quickly reached 2 million views on Slipknot's official YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgA7KIwKlOE. Slipknot emerged from nowhere at the very end of the 20th century and quickly made a name for itself as the most enigmatic, provocative and aggressive band of the moment. The self-titled album released in 1999 is a classic, named “best album of the last 25 years” by Metal Hammer. The album was quickly certified double platinum in the United States, and every album by the band, including the four DVDs, has also gone platinum in the United States and in several other countries. All told, the international tally is as follows: 11 platinum albums and 38 gold albums. The band’s fans are unwavering and they are everywhere: the latest album, "ALL HOPE IS GONE" (2008), entered at No. 1 on the sales charts in seven countries. As essential as any rock legend, Slipknot has graced the covers of numerous publications around the world and has received a host of awards and nominations of all kinds, including a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category as well as six nominations. Slipknot has toured the world extensively and is regularly headlining various tours and festivals including Mayhem in the United States, Download Festival in England, Monsters of Rock in Brazil, Soundwave Festival in Australia, Sonisphere in France, etc. 2012 was the first year of KNOTFEST with more than 45,000 fans over two days of the festival.
