Screwed, Blued And Tattooed

Description

Sleeze Beez is like the kid next door who lives rock'n'roll to the fullest. Sleeze Beez is like the kid who annoys his mom to buy him his first guitar, goes to buy the guitar, and there are four other guys doing the same thing in the same store. They found each other, and it was magical. Uniquely, Chriz Van Jaarsveld (guitar) and Jan Koster (drums) managed to secure a recording contract even before the band was formed. To start recording, a group was formed with Don Van Spall (guitar), Ed Jongsma (bass), and singer Tiger. The first album Look Like Hell was only released regionally in 1987, but Sleeze Beez was starting to make a name for itself. Sleeze Beez successfully merged the sounds of AC/DC and Def Leppard to create its own brand of relentless hard rock and needed to recruit a new singer. The four rockers from Amsterdam, during the recording of what would become Screwed Blued & Tattooed, replaced frontman Tiger with Andrew Elt (ex-Gin on The Rocks), and Sleeze Beez was finally ready for success. Atlantic Records picked up the band, gave them considerable airtime with the single "Stranger Than Paradise," and had them open for Skid Row. What you saw is what you got with Sleeze Beez. There was no lipstick, just sweat and rock; the band members simply followed their animal instinct. The animal instinct is definitely one of the factors that allowed the band to stand out from the others. Jan and Andrew had the privilege of writing the band's songs. The title track, "Screwed Blued 'n Tattooed," can be compared to a wet dream. They chose it from an Eddie Murphy movie called "Best Defense," in which the famous comedian was sitting in a tank with two Iranians and said, "Well guys, it looks like we're screwed, blued, and tattooed." It sums up the situation well. "When The Brains Go To The Balls" remains one of the best tracks on the album and in the Sleaze Glam style. This rock is as ironic as possible and defines Sleeze Beez as a band in one phrase. "Girls Girls Nasty Nasty" is dedicated to all the girls who went to the show and wanted a memento from the band, but also to all the guys who went to the show and wanted a memento of the girls. "Screwed Blued 'n Tattooed" has something for everyone and reached the 115th spot on the Billboard Top 200. The future looked so bright in 1990…
