Recognized as one of the Big Four of Thrash Metal with Megadeth, Metallica, and Anthrax, Slayer is undoubtedly the most worthy representative of the genre and has sold over 35 million albums. Released in 1986, "Reign in Blood" is the band's first album to chart on the Billboard 200: it is considered one of the most important in extreme metal and the specialized magazine Kerrang! designates it as "the best heavy album of all time alongside Metallica's 'Master of Puppets'." Founded in California in the early eighties by guitarists Terry King and Jeff Hanneman, Slayer made a name for itself with its first album recorded on an independent label, and quickly signed with the prestigious label American Recordings. Still active 30 years later, the band has been nominated twice for the Grammy Awards and awarded two consecutive years for its songs: "Eyes Of The Insane" (2007) and "Final Six" (2008).
