The Skokiaan Brass Band is releasing its second album SKOKI MAMA, produced by American producer Scott Billington (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, The Soul Rebels, Solomon Burke, Irma Thomas...), a three-time Grammy Award winner. Travels, encounters, and artistic collaborations in France, the United States, and West Africa have shaped the contours of an original musical identity. Inspired by the brass bands of New Orleans, the Skokiaan Brass Band plays with funk, soul, jazz, and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, even adding a few pinches of high life and Afrobeat. The album, recorded in France, New Orleans, Benin, and Ghana, pays tribute to Skoki Mama, whose spirit watches over the unity of the group and inspires this unique sound made to warm and brighten our times.
