Giovanni Paolo Bottesini (1821-1889) was the greatest virtuoso of the double bass. He composed a significant number of works for his instrument, accompanied by piano or orchestra. One should not look for any melodic or harmonic originality in Bottesini's music. It is inspired by his great predecessors or contemporaries, here Mendelssohn and Bellini, or by popular or folk themes. Everything must exalt the merits of the double bassist who would manage to play these pages, of formidable difficulty. Francesco Siragusa unfolds throughout this album an infinite palette of colors!
