Résistances

Description

Sinsemilia's second album after the legendary "Première récolte" ("First Harvest"), "Résistances" was their breakthrough. Directly ranked as the 4th best-selling album the week of its release, ahead of French variety heavyweights, with over 50,000 copies sold in the first week, it established the band beyond the reggae circle. Tracks like "La flamme" ("The Flame"), "Je préfère 100 fois" ("I Prefer 100 Times") or "Fight here" brilliantly blend the band's rock and chanson influences with their beloved reggae sound. The success of their cover of Brassens' "La mauvaise réputation" ("The Bad Reputation") brought the Grenoble-based band to major TV shows (Michel Drucker's "Vivement dimanche," Hit machine, etc.). This cover, along with their hit "Douanier 007" ("Customs Officer 007"), was widely played on French radio. Along with other artists like Tryo and Pierpoljak, Sinsemilia helped establish what the media would call "The French Reggae Wave." Certified double gold record with over 250,000 copies sold, "Résistances" remains an essential album of this movement today.
