Concerto pour violon

Description

Ludger Vollmer's Violin Concerto was composed in 2020, during the lockdown, on commission from the Staatskapelle Weimar, and reflects the atmosphere of this exceptional period. The composition originates from a free melodic formula of six notes, without a fixed rhythmic pattern, which the composer associates with the image of a seagull gliding above the water and that structures the entire work. In this four-movement violin concerto, each movement develops its own thematic profile, through which Vollmer unfolds his sound universe and narrative via a rhythmically melodic composition. For nearly 40 minutes, the composer's musical universe captivates with its narrative sound richness and formal clarity.
