Reminiscence

Description

Born in 2000, winner of numerous international competitions, Simon Bürki is currently studying with Sergei Babayan at the Juilliard School in New York. It is with Rachmaninoff - whose 150th anniversary is celebrated in 2023 - Scriabin, Tchaikovsky, Liszt, and Schumann that he makes his debut recording. This first album brings together several of the dark Études-Tableaux and Preludes by Rachmaninoff, two Études by Scriabin, as well as a selection of transcriptions and short pieces, immediately affirming Simon Bürki's affinities. In these (post-)romantic miniatures, the pianist stands out with his flawless virtuosity and understated elegance, which leave plenty of room for his flamboyant and intense playing.
