Pièces de luth

Description

For his first solo record, Diego Salamanca performs a selection of pieces by Silvius Leopold Weiss (1687-1750), a true genius of the lute who evolved the style and the instrument itself. Weiss was able to brilliantly exploit everything his instrument could offer him, drawing from its constraints an aesthetic thought of extraordinary solidity. His work offers a synthesis of the musical styles he encountered throughout his career, through travels and meetings with other composers such as Bach, Corelli, Scarlatti, and many others.
This record is accompanied by a booklet written by Diego Salamanca, along with photos of a fresco painted by the artist Sol LeWitt that was located in the recording room at the Donjon de Vez.
