Description

SIDI WACHO was born from the meeting between rapper Saïdou from the Ministère des Affaires Populaires (MAP) and Chileans Dj Antu and Juanito Ayala in Yungay, a working-class neighborhood in Santiago, Chile. Their first exchanges on social inequalities, racism, imperialism, and the reality of working-class neighborhoods in France and Chile quickly gave them some song ideas and the desire to create a new collective blending hip-hop and South American sounds. The story then continued in the studio and in music in Lille in 2015 with the accordionist from MAP Jeoffrey Arnone, the trumpeter with Balkan influences Boris Viande, and the percussionist "El Pulpo." It took a few months and some back and forth between Santiago and Lille for SIDI WACHO to sign us a first record that is totally unclassifiable where everything mixes, the words, the languages, and the sounds, and where each member brings their touch, their style, and their musical influences. Like a little breath of fresh air, or rather like a gust, SIDI WACHO will arrive in stores in March 2016 with a first album that grooves, colorful, with poetic, political lyrics and wickedly effective choruses. "The record is a pretext to hit the road!" they tell us. It's true that if we take a closer look at the curriculum of the group members, we quickly understand that their thing is the stage: "A record is good but a tour is better!" So SIDI WACHO invites us to hit the roads in 2016 to share positive energies, to dance and sing. But be careful, don't be mistaken, SIDI WACHO is not cumbia, it is not rap nor Balkan music. SIDI WACHO is popular expression made in Lille and Santiago with committed lyrics that sting and remind us that "la lucha sigue."
